Bernadene Weskin
The founder of Northwest Psychology, I am originally from Australia and have had the good fortune to visit many countries and experience many cultures. My empathy, humor, and culturally sensitive approach provide a warm atmosphere where children, adolescents, and adults can feel welcome and accepted. I am a proud parent of a child on the autism spectrum and believe that every child can grow up to lead a happy and productive life given the right opportunities and support.
Kelly Tenove
Managing the difficulties of life can feel overwhelming sometimes. However, if these challenges start to consume you and affect your everyday life, it’s a great time to seek help. Together, we will explore and work within your strengths to discover the strategies that work for you. Every client begins therapy at a different place and I am experienced in cultivating thorough, individualized treatment to help my clients overcome their struggles piece by piece.
Raman Kalher
Raman is a dynamic addition to the Northwest Psychology team, bringing her enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the mental health of the Calgary community. Raman is well-versed in various aspects of counselling, including ethics, assessments, and crisis intervention. As a South Asian Canadian, she brings an intersectional perspective to her work. Raman uses a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach, recognizing the unique identity and strengths of each person.
Natasha Walli
With a background in education and a passion for fostering growth and resilience, I want to focus on supporting individuals through life's challenges and transitions. My approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and evidence-based techniques tailored to each client's needs. I believe in the transformative power of self-discovery and growth. As Helen Keller once said, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." My goal is to help clients navigate their personal journeys with greater confidence, and I hope they feel empowered to live what they see as their most fulfilling lives.
Lesley Sugden
I specialize in psychoeducational assessment, diagnostic and intervention services for children, adolescents and adults, to identify and address giftedness, learning disorders, intellectual disability, ADHD/ADD, and mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression. I also provide counselling services to children, adolescents and adults struggling to cope with challenging life events such as; anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, separation/divorce, self-esteem, parenting issues, anger issues and many other presenting concerns.
Jennifer Hoy
I am a Registered Psychologist with a Master of Science degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing significant behavioural, emotional, and psychological challenges (e.g., anxiety, depression, parent-child relationships, trauma, loss, and other presenting concerns). I have specialized training in trauma (including EMDR), psycho-educational assessments, interventions for children and adolescents, and family therapy.
Illisha Patterson
Registered Psychologist
I am a registered psychologist who truly enjoys working with adults, adolescents and children and I strive to be non-judgmental and respectful of the beliefs, morals, culture and values of all people. I view people’s challenges from a biopsychosocial, family/client centered, trauma informed lens and have specialized training in CBT, EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy and Play Therapy.
Ashley Jones
I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker with a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary with 15 years experience working in the mental health field. I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and families who are experiencing complex mental health concerns including behavioral and mood disorders, somatization, attachment, grief and loss, and trauma. I will work with you to identify the steps needed to manifest concrete and lasting change.
Lara Palset
I am a Registered Professional Counsellor Candidate with a Masters in Counselling. Working primarily from a holistic, strengths-based approach, and at times through expressive arts approaches. My work has focused on clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, boundary setting issues, self-esteem, stress/burnout, spiritual conflicts/issues, substance abuse, and dissociation.
Angie Hick
Hi There! I'm glad you are here! My approach is collaborative, creative, and change driven. I help clients build on their existing strengths and explore new solutions to their problems. I utilize a variety of approaches and believe the therapeutic process should be tailored to each clients or family’s needs. No cookie cutters here! I believe therapy should be generative, creative, collaborative and help you uncover solutions to the issues you are faced with. I have a passion to working with families so they can move forward together. I am a Clinical Social Worker with a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary. I also have a post graduate diploma in Couple and Family Therapy.
Allison Iriye
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary. I am passionate about cultivating culturally sensitive and trauma-informed therapeutic spaces alongside my clients. My practice is strengths-based, 2SLGBTQIA+-affirming, sex positive, kink-aware, and poly(am)-aware. I also specialize in gender-affirming care. Empowerment, nonjudgement, and curiosity are values I hold dearly in my work.
Andrew Verreault
Andrew has been working in non-profit organizations and the helping profession for over a decade. He has volunteered or worked with adolescents, youth, adults, and seniors in multiple roles from various cultures and backgrounds. Andrew supports clients through their journey with his professional training and personal experience by creating a collaborative and non-judgemental environment. He believes that finding the right method and modality to fit the client’s needs is one of the most important aspects of therapy and offers a holistic approach.
Linda Ly
I am an experienced therapist with over 10 years of experience in mental health and counselling. I am educated, trained, and experienced in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns in adult clienteles from diverse backgrounds and life stages. I work from a strength-based person-centred approach and employ strategies from various modalities ( i.e., CBT, ACT, MBCT, Solution-Focused, Humanistic, etc.) to best address each client’s concerns and needs. My goal is to provide a safe space for individuals to examine, explore, understand, and address their concerns so that they feel heard, Supported, and empowered.
Linda Forde
I help people manage struggles they are experiencing through a supportive, empathic relationship to uncover their inherent strengths. I have 9 years of Counselling experience helping people through, among other concerns, stress, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, relationship concerns, and self-determination. I have worked in Public Education teaching and counselling, for over 30 years, with the goal of supporting the diverse people I meet to develop their best selves.
Dr. Ben Zalkind
Dr. Ben Zalkind is a family doctor in Calgary. He works primarily with the Whittaker Wellness Clinic. In a not-so-distant past life, Dr. Ben studied literature and psychology, whose insights into human suffering and flourishing eventually led him to medicine. His psychotherapeutic approach draws from humanistic and existential models and the Power Threat Meaning Framework. He is a lifelong lover of books, fitness, and the great outdoors. A dedicated vagabond, he enjoys adventuring locally and abroad with his fellow traveller and wife.
